Final Conference of the Fashion.ED Project at UPV Alcoy
On September 16, 2025, the Final Conference of the European Project Fashion.ED was held at the Alcoy Campus of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV). The event brought together professionals, researchers, and students from the textile sector to showcase the main results achieved throughout the project.
The conference began with the presentation of the Collection of Good Practices on Eco Design in Fashion and the online course MOOC Eco Design in Fashion, two key pillars developed to foster new approaches to learning in the textile field.
This was followed by the presentation of the seven virtual textile experiments, designed to offer an innovative and unconventional teaching model, bringing textile engineering closer to new generations through interactive digital tools.
In parallel, three presentations linked to the themes of Fashion.ED were delivered:
- Green-Lift Project, which outlined the path to integrating sustainability into the textile value chain.
- PHENOCYCLES Project, presented by UPV professor Lucas Santos-Juanes, who shared results on the use of polyphenols derived from waste and their conversion into high-value products applicable across different sectors.
- The UPV startup FiberPalm, presented by student Manel Cabanes, who, together with his team, introduced an innovative alternative based on sustainable fibers developed from palm residues, serving as an inspiring example for the participants of the Eco Design Challenge.
To conclude, the 20 videos created by the participants of the Eco Design Challenge were showcased. After their presentation, the winners from each country—who followed the event online—were announced. On their behalf, the project partners present in Alcoy received the diplomas from the project coordinator, Pablo Díaz.
With this conference, Fashion.ED brings its journey to a close, reaffirming its strong commitment to educational innovation and training in sustainability, creativity, and technology applied to textiles.
